This is match for the 3rd place in the first edition of the Nations League and chance for Switzerland and England to console themselves after defeats in the semi-finals. Both teams were defeated in a very painful way; the Swiss lost in the very finish of match with Portugal, while the English after extra time to the Netherlands. The two teams met the last time in September 2018 when England won their friendly by 1-0.

Switzerland

Just like in many matches before coming to the final of the Nations League the Swiss showed in the semi-finals against Portugal that they are a very tough team that is difficult to defeat.  No one completely outplayed them for a very long time, including Portugal but the Swiss didn’t have adequate solution for Ronaldo, and they paid a price for that. England

The English also had a very difficult opponent in the semi-finals but they were certainly more disappointed than the Swiss. They harboured great hopes about the final of the Nations League and wished to win the title. England played quite well lately; it won Spain and Croatia, and it started the new qualifying cycle with two triumphs. They also started well against the Netherlands in the semi-finals; they took a lead after Rashford scored and maintain it till 20 minutes before the end. Then received a goal from a set piece and two more in the extra time, for which they can blame stopper Stones. There is obvious that players are fatigued and consequently we expect a series of changes in the starting line-up.
