Japan Senegal match preview

The most unusual group in this World Cup did not bring any draws in the first round, but teams that were objectively weaker made the wins and the Japanese celebrated with 2- 1 over Colombia, while Senegal defeated Poland with the same result, so the winner of this duel will qualify in the round of sixteen. It has to be said that the Japanese have had a bit of luck, since they had more players on the field almost all of the match against Colombia, while Senegal showed most of all African teams and they deservedly won. These two team have not met for a very long time, but it should be said that Senegal has resolved both friendly duels in their favour.

Japan

Japan mostly because of bad games in friendly matches after qualifiers, was not given big prospects at this championship and they were declared group outsiders, although there were no football superpowers in the group. However, the Japanese have shown that the friendly matches are one, and those of the competitors are quite different, but it has also been proven that the dose of happiness can be judged in one match. Japan has achieved a double advantage at the opening of the match against Colombia because, besides penalty that Kagawa turned into the lead, one opposing player was excluded and of course it opened a great opportunity for them.

In the end, however, the Japanese have taken advantage of that, but they might be concerned that they have received a goal while having more players on the field, and they were completely outplayed in the first half. Another goal was scored after the break, which was also very unusual for this team, but obviously it was a match in which everything was on their side. Coach Nishino has made a very big surprise with the composition, because Shoji was on the stitch, not Makino. Shibasaki and Haraguchi played in the midfield, while Yamaguchi and Honda remained on the bench, and Okazaki and Muto did not play in the attack, but Osako, who scored the winning goal in that match. They showed some weaknesses, so besides winning we expect changes in the composition, primarily in defence, where Makino should play.

Probable lineups Japan: Kawashima – H.Sakai, Yoshida, Makino, Nagatomo – Hasebe, Shibasaki – Haraguchi, Kagawa, Inui – Osako

Senegal

Senegal's victory in the first round is still less surprising than the triumph of the Japanese, although it has the same value, since it is much easier to play with three points on the account and the Senegalese are hoping that they can secure the round of sixteen after this match. They did not shine in their duel with Poland and it can be said that they also had the luck with scoring goals, because the first was an own goal, and the second was extremely unusual and it was also the fruit of a major defensive mistake of their opponents. Though they are an extremely offensive team, which usually wants to score more goals, their defence was great in the first round led by S.Sane and Koulibaliy, which completely neutralized the greatest danger of the Polish striker Lewandowski.

They have received a goal at the very end and after a small drop in concentration, but the overall rating is great and far better than that of S.Mane, the biggest star of Senegal's team, who was not up to the task in that match. Niang has showed the most of all strikers, however, it was surprising that Cisse did not give Sakhou the chance, but M.Diouf instead, and captain Kouyate did not play in midfield. Even Gassam was expected on the right side, not Wague, but it turned out good and three points are there, however, that does not mean there will be any changes for this duel. The mentioned Niang has a problem with injury and may not be able to play ,so it opens up space for Sakho, or maybe Konate, who we believe will probably play.

Probable lineups Senegal: K.N'Diaye – Wague, S.Sane, Koulibaly, Sabaly – Kouyate, I.Gueye, Sarr, S.Mane – Sakho, M.Diouf(Niang)

Verdict:

Both teams won in the first round with the same result, but Senegal showed something more, and they are individually better than Japan, who really had a lot of luck in the first round. The victory in this duel leads to the round of sixteen, while a draw is not bad for both teams, but the African team is certainly closer to victory.
