Brondby are finalists of the Danish Cup. Midtjylland will not defend the title since it is clear now that will end up at the second place, right behind Copenhagen. The Cup is chance for Brodby to save the season given that they occupy the fifth place in the champions’ play-off and could easily not reach the European scene. Out of three head-to-head played this season each team won once, and they drew the third match.

Midtjylland

Midtjylland didn’t defend the championship title won last season and this is a great chance to win a title. They couldn’t parry to Copenhagen this season and everything was resolved few rounds ago as they have now 11 points fewer. Midtjylland defeated Copenhagen in the Cup on its way to this final, and by that it was clear that path towards the title was not easy. Compared to league match with Copenhagen the team could undergo some changes. Kurzawa, Mabil and Onyeka should be starters, and perhaps manager Andersen surprise with some other players.

Brondby

This is a bad season for Brondby, which winning the Cup would certainly make far better just like it was the case last season. They didn’t succeed in the championship but they won the Cup and now they defend the title. They are not in a particularly good shape, but they recently won Midtjylland away, just like Nordsjaelland in the last round, which was a very important triumph. The problem is that they won only two times in previous eight rounds and they mostly lost matches. They lost two times to new champion Copenhagen and Esbjerg, which were particularly painful defeats, as they want to catch up right with the latter team that occupies the fourth place in the table and lead to the Europa League qualifiers.

They have four points fewer and two more rounds will be played before the end, so it isn’t going be easy, however, if they win the Cup they won’t need to bother. They routinely defeated Nordsjaelland 2-0 in the previous round and this is encouraging sign before the final. They had a slightly path toward the final Midtjylland and their strongest opponent was Aalborg in the semi-finals. Forward Erceg was sent off in the finish of the match and he cannot play now but he anyway wasn’t the first choice. It is possible that the same team like in the previous round starts the match.

Brondby is the title defender in the Cup but they didn’t show much this season, while on other hand Midtjlland played much better. The final match will be played at Midtjylland’s MCH Arena but they are anyway favourites to win. That is why we will forecast that Midjylland wins one title this season.
