Crystal Palace Liverpool match preview

Last weekend Crystal Palace and Liverpool won all three points at the beginning of new Premier League season. The team from London won newcomer Fulham away by 2-0, while the Reds defeated the Hammers at home by even 4-0. Regarding last year’s matches between the Palace and Liverpool, the Reds won both of them, winning 1-0 at home and 2-1 away.

Crystal Palace

Right because of that everyone in the Palace ranks are very much aware that another difficult match is waiting for them on Monday evening, but their self-confidence grew after they won without much trouble Fulham 2-0 away in the first round. Schlupp and Zaha scored for the Palace in that match, and it was very interesting that manager Hodgson didn’t give chance to any of four players who arrived to the Selhurst Part this summer.

True, young German midfielder Meyer and forward J. Ayew arrived just two days before match with Fulham and from that side they weren’t in any combination, while goalkeeper Guaita and midfielder Kouyate stayed on the bench, where the latter got few minutes near the end of match. Given that all starters played well in the first round it can be expected that all of them get chance against the Reds, while out of action due to injuries are still stopper Dann, midfielder Puncheon and forward Wickham.

Probable lineups Crystal Palace:  Hennessey – Wan-Bissaka, Tomkins, Sakho, van Aanholt – Townsend, Milivojevic, McArthur, Schlupp – Benteke, Zaha

Liverpool

Just like their fans expected after excellent results in the second part of last season, when they even reached the final of the Champions League, Liverpool had an aggressive start of new season and in the end it defeated West Ham at its Anfield stadium by even 4-0. That was a clear message to reigning champion Manchester City given that manager Klopp has recently stated that the main objective of his team this season will be winning the title in the Premiership.

Right because of that Liverpool signed four excellent players this summer; goalkeeper Alisson from Roma, midfielders Keita from Leipzig and Fabinho from Monaco, and winger Shaquiri from Stoke, while out of more important players only midfielder Emre Can left the team. Let’s add that team captain Henderson didn’t play against the Hammers in the first round but he will now probably replace Wijnaldum in the midfield, while due to injuries the match should skip stoppers Lovren and Matip, and midfielder Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Probable lineups Liverpool: Alisson Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, van Dijk, Robertson – Milner, Henderson, Keita – Salah, Firmino, Mane

Verdict:

Although many believe the Reds will win Crystal Palace away without breaking a sweat after excellent victory over West Ham, we are of opinion the Eagles will put a much stronger resistance than expected, which is why we have opted for a pick with goals on both sides of the pitch.

Pick:  both teams to score 1.71 - 71/100 @1XBet
