Although both teams are positioned in the lower part of table Celta has big 15 points more and doesn’t have to worry about its survival. In fact, it still has chance to reach European positions, while Las Palmas is locked in the bitter survival struggle. It is at the moment below the line but has the same number of points like a team that is positioned above the drop zone. Celta plays fairly badly and it last three out of previous five matches, while Las Palamas drew two matches in a row, where the one from previous round is a valuable result. Celta won their head-to-head from the first part of season by 5-2.

Celta Vigo

Celta struggles when playing away recently, it lost three previous away matches and scored just one goal although its opponents weren’t the strongest one. Alaves, Getafe and Girona are objectively weaker teams than Celta and that is why the team from Vigo had to do better, however, it won no points and by that European positions are further and further. On top of it came home draw with Espanyol, so home triumph over Eibar is the only good result made in last month.

Celta scored both goals against Eibar 2-0 in the second half of match. After debacle against Getafe stopper Cabral has returned in the starting line-up but he had to skip match in Girona due to accumulated yellow cards. Radoja also didn’t play, just like Sisto, while now Cabral and Radoja are back in the team, and Fontas is the only injured player.

Las Palmas

Given how they played in bigger part of season Las Palmas players are now in good shape as they lose matches not so often. They lost just one out of five previous matches; to Sevilla at home 2-1. Before that they won Malaga at home and drew in Bilbao. After Sevilla they played a goalless draw, this time with Leganes, while in previous round they pulled the most valuable draw as they tied the result with leading Barcelona at home.

Everyone felt sorry for them after they received the first goal, however, Las Palmas players didn’t surrender and they managed to equalise and to keep those 1-1 till the final whistle. After Leganes manager Jemez left Michele at the bench and Aguirregaray played at the right flank, while D. Castellano covered the left one. Gil didn’t show up at his position in the midfield and instead had played Jairo, who arrived this winter and altogether it look good against super strong Barcelona. Jairo got injured and cannot play n Probable linups ot, but suspension of the team’s first scorer Calleri is bigger problem, who is also prevented to play.

Verdict:

Celta plays weakly away matches but is doing well at home. Now, Celta is a favourite to win and it definitely needs points to reach European positions. Las Palmas plays a bit better recently, however, it is weakened now and it doesn’t shine when playing outside its stadium.
